Plants that thrive in the desert
As a master gardener here in the desert, I love gardening. I get those butterfly moments, and feel a huge sense of accomplishment when the plants blossom. Every morning when I wake up, I walk around the whole yard, (it's 2.5 acres...) checking for abnormal symptoms in crop rows, animal damage, wind damage, dust, pests, irrigation line damage; list goes on, and my "to-do list" gets full fast. But I always take time to acknowledge the beauty of these flowers. It's rewarding, and uplifting.

Plants that I miss
I grew up on one of the islands in Japan. I miss seeing all of them! I am trying to see which ones can survive in my backyard. So far, no luck... I keep trying though... Never know until you try!

Walker Canyon Super Bloom 3/25/2017 (California)
Around Valentines day in 2016, there was a super bloom in Death Valley. Of Course I was there! My husband took me to Death Valley and let me enjoy the desert full of yellow flowers. About a year after that, I was reading about wild flowers that I can grow around here. Then I saw an article about the California Super Bloom. I yelled "Super Bloom!!!" I researched exactly where I needed to go, and I asked my husband to take me there. He is from Southern California, so he knows the area very well. Our only concerns were his allergies, and asthma around that amount of flowers and that high count of pollens.
I packed all of my gear, allergy meds in case we need them, his asthma rescue kit... everything! We left the house around three o'clock in the morning so we could beat the traffic. Well, when we got there, there were lines of cars on the street, all for one purpose. "Super Bloom"
My husband was already wheezing at that point, so he stayed in the car. I hiked as far as I can go and start taking pictures, and enjoyed all of the beautiful wild flowers wishing my garden was like that. I was so thankful for my husband, that he had risked his life (a little bit...) to support my dreams! He is always by my side.
That was the day I decided to become a gardener. 4 years later, I am a full fledged Certified Master Gardener in Nevada! I still can't turn my entire yard into a super bloom, but I am hoping that one day, it will happen in my yard!
God is an awesome God. When I am out there working in my garden, struggling to grow things, I just remember to step back, and let God perform the miracles. You may not believe what I believe, but there is an super natural power that cannot be explained by scientists. I believe my God is the creator of the heavens and earth. I cannot make a flower blossom, but He can! I pray that God blesses us with abundance every time I sow seeds. Nothing wrong with spending time with God in the garden! Pull some weeds and talk to Him! I pretend like I work at the garden of Eden!
