Sunrise & Sunset
Chasing sunrise and sunset photos is one of my favorite things to do. You will never know how it's going to turn out that day. God paints on His canvas each day differently. Some days are dark and blue, some days are sunshine and rainbows! Just like our emotions, right? But you know what I love about the sunshine and sunset? Imagine you had a terrible day at work, and are driving home down a long stretch of highway. Somebody cuts you off, they are tailgating, whatever; add more frustration to your day. But all of a sudden, you see the colors changing in the sky, getting ready for sunset... I don't know about you, but I forget whatever was on my mind, and start saying "Wow!! Look at the sunset! So beautiful!" Then after the shiny object syndrome symptoms fade, I forget what I was mad about... It's therapeutic!
On the other hand, Sunrise gives me a certain energy and uplifts my spirits in the morning. If you are watching a sunrise, you are up early! I like the fact that I am able to wake up, go outside, and catch a sunrise! I appreciate the fact that I am healthy enough to do my own thing. There are many people that would love to see the sunrise, but they may not be capable of doing so. I pray for those people. For recovery, and healing. But in the mean time, people are healthy, and still like to sleep in when the sun come up... I can totally understand if you work at night, or you're not feeling well. But if you are just being lazy or too hung over to get up... I have no love for them! Sunrise is a treat for early risers to kill the tasks of the day! Don't you agree?

Great morning, America! I posted up at the one of the fishing piers (Boulder Beach Fishing Pier/ Hemenway Harbor) at Lake Mead. We left the house at 2:00am, and arrived there around 4:00am. People were kayaking up and down the bay area, some people were fishing from the shore, birds flying, quiet and calm (no wind!)... until power watercraft showed up! My husband and I only had 3 hours of sleep before heading out to the lake for the clean up event, so I was feeling sleepy and tired, but as soon as I got out of the car and saw the light reflections from the harbor, all of the groggy feelings just disappeared. Woman on a mission! Started at 4 o'clock in the morning!

This was my mother's favorite spot during her visit few years back. She came from Japan to see me. This particular day, she was feeling sick, but I made her come to this park anyways. I wanted to show her how beautiful this place is. She said "Thank you for encouraging me to go even when I was not feeling good. I will never forget this place. I've never seen anything like this. Best experience ever." Sometimes to appreciate the beauty, you have to endure the pain!

Everywhere I go, I always include "Sunrise" as a part of my travel itinerary. It's a hot ticket item for me and my husband knows it! Valley of Fire is about a 3 hour drive from where I live. He made sure we left early enough for me to catch the sunrise. Well worth the effort, I think!!

Pahrump Sunset Series
Sunset Series - Pahrump, NV
When you drive Hwy. 160 from Las Vegas to Pahrump during the "magic hour" this beautiful sunset is almost guaranteed. This town should be called "Town of Sunset." First time I made that drive, I fell in love with the town. It's never the same. God can really do some art on His huge canvas! These sunsets were captured right outside of my homestead. I've noticed that a lot of people take pictures of sunsets and post their pictures on Facebook in this town, and now you know why! The picture above is right down the street from my house. I found this big dead tree. This whole shot reminds me of what the desert sunset looks like. Dried or fried up mesquite tree and bright orange sunset. I think this is the "Pahrump Sunset" that I see all the time. Keeping it rural!
